Local Emergency Planning Committee
Local emergency planning committees help communities plan for and protect against the potential risks of chemical emergencies.
The City of Virginia Beach Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) consists of representatives from the community, law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire services, local environmental agencies, health care, media, industry and local officials.
The Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986 brought about the development of local emergency planning committees within each state. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Virginia Beach LEPC, please contact vboem@vbgov.com or 757-385-1188.
